Tom loves the challenge of tackling problems that customers face in their daily struggle to make great television happen. He also loves learning about new advances in technology and is passionate about giving his customers the best possible experience and customer service.
At the tender age of 8 Tom got tickets for his whole family to a taping of an afternoon kids show in San Francisco and spent the whole taping session running around the studio pestering the engineers. Sound familiar? It seems that event sealed the fate of thousands of customers that Tom has pestered over the years. In grade school he was one of those infamous AV geeks who could run anything Bell & Howell could throw at him. In high school he joined the newly created TV dept. and crewed and directed the daily newscast, taping football and basketball games and producing student projects for the History and English depts. That led to a BA degree in television production at SF State U, numerous free-lance gigs and a short stint as a news production assistant in the Bay Area before turning to a sales and systems integration career. 27 years later, Tom is still passionate about his work and thrilled to be working at ABS.

My wonderful wife Jeri and my two daughters Jennifer and Janelle. Sure it gets a little estrogen charged at times, but I love it. Without them in my life, I never would have experienced Oprah, Dr. Phil, country music, Pride and Prejudice and not to forget, 150 screenings (not kidding) of Sense and Sensibility via Comcast’s On Demand service. Isn’t technology wonderful? And I sell this stuff…

While attending Mt. Hood Community College in Gresham, Oregon, Tim Kerr worked as the audio engineer in the school’s music department, recording albums. Shortly after college Tim decided to pursue his dream of being an audio engineer and drove to Hollywood. While working for Filmways Audio Services, Tim became involved with Academy award shows, Grammy award shows, even Barry Manilow concerts. In 1981, Tim’s love for audio engineering landed him a job with CBS. It was then that his career took off…
Professional Background
After five years at CBS maintaining and installing video and audio equipment, setting up and operating numerous live news and sporting events, Tim decided to work as a freelance engineer until he landed a job at Groupe Andre Perry/Powerhouse in 1987.
In 1991, Tim joined Spectrum System Design for a year where he was responsible for the design and installation of multiple AV jobs for Nike Town, Sequent and other companies.
In 1992, Tim worked for Mira Film and Video as a second engineer. He was the engineer in charge for the mobile television truck on live events.
Tim’s experience and desire to learn and do more took him in several different directions over the next decade. He worked as Chief Engineer for Downstream Digital, Regional Sales Manager for Digital System Technology, and Technical System Manager for KGW-TV.
Since 2008, Tim has been working as a Contract/Freelance Broadcast and Video Engineer. He has done work for V-1 for FSN, V-2 for NBC, and managed several projects and integration for ABS.
